The thought of Huck saying he will risk his life to save a African American is very ironic. This is so because white society tells Huck they are beneath them and, because Huck doesn't understand morals.
White society shows and tells Huck he is above African Americans. So for Huck to say he will go to hell and save him is out of character. In the book Huck has shown some traits of racism without knowing. In one of the chapters Huck see's and understands Jim's pain about his family. He thinks to himself I didn't know an average black male had emotions. It was implanted into his brain that his level exceeded other colors. Even though some of these untrue statements are being faded from his mind. Huck at times shows his nose to Jim, unknowingly.
Hucks lack of morality to understand himself. Makes him saving Jim very ironic. A person who doesn't understand themselves aren't able to help others. In one of the chapters Huck was going to do the "right thing". By turning Jim over to the law. If it wasn't for Jim showing Huck undying friendship. Huck would've done the "wrong thing" by himself. At times Huck needs guides to help live his life at times.

Is huck a raist
Huck isnt a racist for plenty of reasons. first because he understands Jim's pain and also sees African americans equal as the white man. Huck understands jims pain in many ways. He understands because he felt bad that jims daughter has scarlet fever. He felt like jim had feelings just as he did and he understood his pain. Jim also made Huck see that blacks are just as human as whites. In one of the chapters Huck says that he realized that Jim isnt a animail who only lives to work. He also say that at times he must take his own life in his hands. Jim has showed Huck many life lessons in the book and only a non racist would keep these lesson. Also &uck is proud to reprsent jim. Huck sees african americans as equal to him. He sees this by beeining around jim for the whole book. Jims gives off emotions, such as fear, happiness and also most important friendship. Jim showed fear by showing passion and love for his family. Jim shows happiness by letting huck know hes happy to be around him. In one of the chapters when huck was going to turn Jim in. Jim told him that he was happy that there were best friends. It made huck think maybe we are equal in ways even the white man missed
