Huck Fin post

The thought of Huck saying he will risk his life to save a African American is very ironic. This is so because white society tells Huck they are beneath them and, because Huck doesn't understand morals.

White society shows and tells Huck he is above African Americans. So for Huck to say he will go to hell and save him is out of character. In the book Huck has shown some traits of racism without knowing. In one of the chapters Huck see's and understands Jim's pain about his family. He thinks to himself I didn't know an average black male had emotions. It was implanted into his brain that his level exceeded other colors. Even though some of these untrue statements are being faded from his mind. Huck at times shows his nose to Jim, unknowingly.

Hucks lack of morality to understand himself. Makes him saving Jim very ironic. A person who doesn't understand themselves aren't able to help others. In one of the chapters Huck was going to do the "right thing". By turning Jim over to the law. If it wasn't for Jim showing Huck undying friendship. Huck would've done the "wrong thing" by himself. At times Huck needs guides to help live his life at times.

  1. You are heading in the right direction, but I wanted you to refer to the evidence presented in class more. Keep working hard in class. I know you have the ideas, we just need to get you to get them on paper. Keep up the good work in class.
